If you have a system with a UEFI firmware, then you need to be aware of what you can do about it.
The first thing you need to be aware of is that there are a number of things you can do with your UEFI firmware that are very questionable. The first being that you can install driver modules on your system that are not officially supported by the manufacturer. The second being that there are things that are very questionable with the way the UEFI firmware works. The third being that the way the firmware works can actually make it hard to install the software that you need to get your hardware to work.
The third is that things are not always 100% certain what you are supposed to do. In the case of UEFI firmware you are supposed to install the necessary hardware modules and then go through the driver installation process. Well, it doesn’t work that way.
It does work the way it is supposed to, but now when you try to do it and the device wont work, theres no way to know if you have the hardware or not. You have to resort to trial and error. This is the reason that we have to go through the install process which takes some time. But it sure beats the alternative of buying new hardware and then trying to figure out what the problem is.
