The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them they control us. Whereas a person with self-awareness is able to exercise a little meta-cognition and say, “Hmm… every time my sister calls me and asks for money, I end up drinking a lot of vodkas.
The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because we don’t realize that when we stop to think about it, we’re still just on autopilot. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions aren’t as sharp as they once were.
Most of us would agree that our brains are hard-wired to be on autopilot. They’re what allows us to do what we do. But what happens when your brain is on autopilot for so long that it doesn’t realize it’s on autopilot? Then it’s not only un-autopilot-able, it’s also un-autopilot-able.
Conda is the latest game from the popular game studio, Ubisoft. It’s a point-and-click action adventure game, where you play as a Conda. The idea is that you’ll be able to use your Conda’s abilities to perform amazing feats of hacking. It’s all very interesting, but I’m not sure that I understand the difference between hacking and hacking in general. If I know the game, I wouldn’t have to.
So are Conda hacking abilities not the same as “hacking in general?” I mean I guess they are but I’m not sure I understand the difference. Also, if hacking in general is hacking, how do you know you used the right tool for the job? I mean, you could hack a door in the first place and you could hack a door with your Conda abilities. But that’s still hacking in general.
